Lawn Care in Spring

Apply fertiliser if not done during winter. A second dose may be needed in November so that the grass has become deep rooted before hot summer weather. Control weeds with a broad leaf lawn weeder. Check sprinkler systems. Ants often colonise them during the winter months. Give lawns a good soaking once or twice a week rather than a daily sprinkle.

Mow regularly but do not scalp the grass as this can cause drying out and later bare areas. Weeds actively colonise areas that have no grass cover. Mow in different directions each time.
